Ground Penetrating Radar
1300Locate have been pioneers in the use of ground penetrating radar (GPR) for utility detection in Australia since purchasing one of the first of the new machines manufactured by IDS back in 2007.
Since then, 1300Locate worked tirelessly to have this valuable tool accepted amongst our peers. Despite some initial reservations, it has now become a recognised and sort after tool when utilities cannot be found by traditional methods.
1300Locate uses the IDS Detector Duo, which utilises 250MHz and 700MHz at the same time, for simultaneous shallow and deep penetration.
Underground imaging technology has opened the door to help utility locators broaden their abilities to include the location of:
- Post tensioning cables in concrete
- Utility locating in concrete, under asphalt and where no surface features are evident
- Buried manholes under asphalt, concrete and natural soils
- Road crossings
- Voids
- Re-bar
Although GPR technology is still evolving it has given us capabilities that were not possible 20 years ago.
Be assured that at 1300Locate, we use the latest available technology to its fullest potential to provide a reliable and thorough service.
