Queen’s Wharf
Brisbane, QLD
The Queen’s Wharf Brisbane (QWB) project is the largest heritage precinct redevelopment in the southern hemisphere.
1300LOCATE assisted with the initial design process by providing extensive utility detail. This project utilised our three operations providing a comprehensive overview of the subsurface utilities within and outside the project area. These include unused or abandoned services, as well as utilities that cross the Brisbane River from the Southern to Northern foreshore and a new route within a maze of utilities for the Energex upgrade. A particularly complex project due to the location of a lot of the utilities and the time constraints imposed on our team. We worked closely with Bennett + Bennett Surveying Brisbane to ensure all data capture was correct and concise.

RNA Redevelopment
Brisbane, QLD
This particular project saw the upgrade of the 22 hectares site that is the Brisbane Showgrounds. It represents the largest Brownfield development of its kind in Australia, thus far. The project included 340,000m2 of new residential, commercial and retail buildings, together with an additional 76,000m2 of new development on RNA retained land. This included the completed state-of- the-art Royal International Convention Centre.
This site hides a number of subsurface utilities dating back to the late 1800s. Because of the previous working history of our team in this area of Brisbane, we have been engaged by all contractors to undertake exceptional locating operations to ensure all existing and new subsurface utilities are protected so the work in this large site continues seamlessly.

Queensland Rail Platform Upgrades
South East, QLD
1300LOCATE were involved in a number of Queensland Rail platform upgrades and future redesigns of around 20 QR platforms in South East Queensland. The upgrades will enable access for disabled passengers, whilst also raising the platform to meet the new generation Rollingstock floor level.
The project involved locating all subsurface utilities in public area, creating butterfly diagrams of all pits and chambers, and ensuring information translation to data survey was seamless. This proved to be a challenge for the site staff as all stations were open to the public and remained in operation.
At the end of the project, any markings from the locating process that remained on the pavement areas were removed to ensure all sites were left in their original condition.

Pacific Paradise Road & Infrastructure Upgrade QLD
Sunshine Coast Regional Council (SCRC) were in the design phase of an infrastructure upgrade and road widening throughout the township of Pacific Paradise. This was a complex operation as the SCRC do not allow night works to be undertaken. Our teams ability to effectively plan and execute potholing works outside of increased hazard times, and inside an already congested area as well as effectively manage the safety of pedestrians and motor vehicles, whilst working in close proximity, was a testament to the company’s commitment to supplying quality information whilst keeping the safety of the public and themselves in mind.
1300LOCATE were successful in supplying information regarding utilities above and below the water table as well as a myriad of previously unmapped utilities, including local council and privately-owned utilities. This project was brought in under budget and ahead of time as well.

Brays & McClintock Rd Upgrade, QLD
1300LOCATE were awarded works for the design phase of the Brays Road upgrade which stretched 3 kilometres from Anzac Ave to the Brays Road Overpass on the Bruce Highway, taking in 1.5 kilometres on McClintock Road. A small, yet challenging, project with 99% of the works located within a school zone. The 1300LOCATE team had a very small window to complete over 180 potholes, including locating two high pressure gas mains. Sharing the environment with children, pedestrians and motor vehicles can be quite a complex and dangerous situation.
Safety and hazard assessments and the ability to co-ordinate around peak hour times where construction meets traffic and children, were paramount in this situation along with the ability to produce an outcome that favours awareness, commitment and exceptional project management skills. This project came in under budget and ahead of time. This is a testament to the dedicated and highly skilled staff at 1300LOCATE.

Byron Shire Council Water Upgrade, NSW
Byron Shire Council (BSC) and 1300LOCATE undertook the detailed design of a new, additional water supply main to service South Golden Beach and Billinudgel on the Northern Coast of New South Wales.
The pipeline was 250 mm in diameter and covered a distance of 3.9 kilometres. The scope of works was generally described as a detailed service location of all services to determine the whereabouts of utilities within 5 metres of the pipeline corridor.
The existing DTM survey required minor extensions in some areas and confirmation of all existing services both above and below ground, including defined drainage courses, creeks, gullies, pipe outlets, pits, embankments, and invert levels to gully pits.
On completion of the job the client was supplied with all information as a 12da file format (TIN).

Marriott Resort
Momi Bay, Fiji
1300LOCATE were engaged by Bennett + Bennett Brisbane to provide locating and pipe survey operations on the abandoned site of what is now the Marriott resort of Momi Bay, in Fiji. The abandoned site contained a lot of incomplete foundations with rebar, mesh and other materials protruding from footings. The existing sewer and storm water were missing their manhole lids, and were disguised by tall standing grass that sat at about two metres in height making the area extremely unsafe and potentially fatal. 1300LOCATE, in conjunction with Bennett and Bennett, collaborated a safe work approach and all works, completed without injury, and the supply of information was provided and utilised to create what you see today.

Trunk Sewer Upgrade
Brisbane, QLD
1300LOCATE were awarded this PUP contract due to the continued supply of accurate and quality deliverables supplied during pre-design investigations for this project. This contract involved compilation of DBYD plans, including research of infrastructure that was abandoned and not present on mapped documents. Meetings were held with government agencies to ensure public disruption was minimised and work time restrictions could be negotiated to reduced down time. We worked closely with the client ascertaining site locations and required clearances for shafts to ensure infrastructure, including old brick arch storm water, old tram lines and the mass of underground communications from the exchange at Woolloongabba were protected.
Armed with the appropriate information, 1300LOCATE could make an informed decision on how to execute excavation including two of the largest shafts for the projects.
