The pipeline was ruptured about 7.50am, with fire crews evacuating the ABC building and the Brisbane Eye ferris wheel.

Grey Street, between Melbourne and Glenelg Streets, was also closed off.

Acting station officer Marc Herbert was on scene and said no one was hurt.

“They have clamped it… it’s all going back to normal (gas) levels now,” he said.

Workers have now been allowed back into the building and construction on Grey Street will recommence.
